Bulgarian journalists for the Bulgarian language. Interview with Hristina Hristova

Abstract. The interview presents journalist Hristina Hristova’s views on contemporary Bulgarian speech, public communication, and the professional responsibility of the media. She describes the current linguistic environment as dynamic and contradictory, with increasing informality accompanied at times by linguistic carelessness, aggressive rhetoric, and reduced clarity.

Particular attention is paid to the journalist’s role as mediator, observer, and corrective force, as well as to the need to respond to evasive speech, verbal aggression, and hate speech with accuracy, composure, and professional distance. The interview also emphasizes the strong influence of media language on public linguistic attitudes and the responsibility of journalists to maintain a high standard of communication.

In conclusion, language is presented not only as a means of communication but also as an instrument of thought, social responsibility, and constructive public dialogue.
