Prof. Dr. Vladislav Milanov was born in 1977 in Kardzhali. He graduated in Bulgarian philology at the University of Veliko Tarnovo „St. Cyril and Methodius“ (1999) and law at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridsky”.
ОHe is the founder of the Center for Analysis of Political and Journalistic Speech. He is the head of the student scientific expedition „On the Trail of the Bulgarian Revivalists“.
His research interests are in the field of linguistic culture, the history of the New Bulgarian literary language and Bulgarian linguistics.
He teaches or has taught linguistics courses to undergraduate students from different specialisations: Bulgarian Philology, History, Law, Scandinavian Studies; as well as Master's students from different programmes: Linguistics, Conference Translation, Chinese Studies.
He has delivered lectures on current issues of contemporary Bulgarian language in Prague, London, Krakow, Brno, Bucharest, Venice, etc.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dilyana Dencheva is a graduate of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", majoring in Slavic Philology, Polish profile. Her doctoral dissertation is in the field of phraseology and poetic language, published as a monograph with the title "Phraseologisms in Contemporary Bulgarian Poetry". In her habilitation work "Metaphor and Translatability. A Linguist's Approach" she again turns to poetic language, but with a focus on the translation of metaphors in Slavic languages. Author of "Polish-Bulgarian Medical Dictionary (with Latin Terms)" and of a number of scientific articles with a diverse palette of topics. Translator (written and oral) from and into Polish with translations of poetry, literary prose and texts with a variety of topics - administrative, journalistic, scientific, etc. Leader of several workshops on literary translation. Lecturer in Bulgarian language, literature and culture at the University of Lodz, Poland in the period 2011-2015. Scientific interests: phraseology, stylistics with a focus on metaphor, poetic language, translatology, public speaking.


Dr. Zornitsa Ivanova

Zornitsa Ivanova is a senior assistant professor at the Department of Bulgarian Language. She holds a PhD in the field of history of the Bulgarian literary language with a dissertation on the topic "Development of administrative vocabulary and terminology in the modern Bulgarian literary language (from the Liberation to the Second World War)" (2024).
Her scientific interests are in the field of Bulgarian phonetics, dialectology and field research of problems related to phonetic analysis, sound changes and dialect speech. She is the author of scientific articles and reviews in specialized publications dedicated to the administrative-business style, legal vocabulary, sociolinguistic aspects of language and the peculiarities of Bulgarian dialects. She participates in research projects and is part of the team of the Stoyko Stoykov Center for Dialectology. In her work with students, she leads and evaluates field research - from the preparation and implementation of sound recordings to the analysis and transcription of the collected materials. He is interested in the interaction between living speech and its phonetic characteristics in contemporary Bulgarian dialects.
