Gradation of Non-Personal Verb Forms

Abstract: The article examines the relation between the category of grading and the participles and gerunds, on the other hand, in modern Bulgarian. Through examples, taken from the Bulgarian corpora and internet, the hypothesis has been proved that participles have forms for comparative and superlative degrees, with special attention being paid to the possibility of grading gerunds. Several methods were used in the research: a descriptive one, a questionnaire and corpus search. The article concludes that the syntactic roles in which participles and participles are found do not affect their ability to be graded.

Keywords: participles, gerund, grading, questionnaire.
