Assignment of Semantic Roles with Contact Verbs in the Valence Dictionary of the Bulgarian Language

Abstract: The article discusses the problem of assigning appropriate semantic roles to contact verbs. The aim of the work is to test the hypothesis whether this class of verbs observes similar trends in the correlation of their arguments with certain semantic roles. The research resource is the Bulgarian Valency Dictionary at IICT-BAS, and the examples for analysis are extracted from the syntactic corpora BulTreeBank. The corpora approach is used as a method of analysis.

Keywords: lexical semantics, semantic roles, complement, subject, syntax, valency frame, verb contact.
