## To What Extent and in What Way do the “False Friends of the Translator” Create Difficulty in Learning a Foreign Language?

**Abstract:**Lexical units that look and/or sound similar or identical in two different languages but differ in meaning (the so-called „false friends“) inevitably create an association with the first language in the learner‘s mind. The article discusses a study conducted with Bulgarian students aged between 10 and 12 years. The students were taught 50 lexical items in Slovenian and French using a mobile educational game. They played the learning game and took a test the next day. Test results show that the false friends can cause both grammatical and semantic errors. The probability of making grammatical errors is higher than the probability of making semantic errors.

**Key words: **false friends, language acquisition, vocabulary acquisition, translation difficulties.

## Linguistic Aspects of Parliamentary Control

**Abstract:**The article analyzes the various forms of parliamentary control, their nature and consequences. Not only their legal framework is examined, but also their content and meaning, embedded through knowledge of the power of the Bulgarian language and proper handling of it. Emphasis is placed on the most frequent grammatical and speech errors made by the people’s representatives and how this affects the ideas they express, as well as their perception by the public. The article examines the necessity of taking measures to increase the language culture of the people‘s representatives and the members of the Council of Ministers, which would favor not only the implementation of parliamentary control, but also the other main power of the National Assembly – lawmaking.

**Key words:***language rules, language culture, control powers of the National**Assembly, forms of parliamentary control.*

## The Dichotomy “own-foreign” in the Dialogue between Lazar Glaushev and the Greek Governor (analysis in the light of the of the political theory)

**Abstract**:The article discusses the relation between Carl Schmitt’s theory of the political and a chapter from the Bulgarian historical novel “Zhelezniyat svetilnik”. Lazar Glaushev, the main character, is involved in a fierce verbal confrontation with the greek bishop about the future of the Bulgarian people, who is still under the reign of the Ottoman sultan. My argument is that in the development of the debate between the two, we can find the main pillars of Carl Schmitt’s theory, which are the “friend/foe” dichotomy, the being of one’s nation in its own sovereign manner and the willingness to engage in a battle to save your nation’s existence.

**Key words**: Carl Schmitt, the political, Dimitar Talev, *Zhelezniyat svetilnik.*
