Particularities of Use of Idioms in Written Journalist Speech

This article – a synthetic part of a bigger study – comments some special uses of phraseological units in the written journalistic speech. The research traces the reasons for choosing of particular phrasemes with a view to their stylistic purpose. Another important point is the intentional word play with which stylistic effect is achieved.
